100+ LISTS PROVIDE MOMS WITH ALL THE INFO THEY NEED:
International “Nanny of the Year” shares 112 of the most practical parenting lists
that answer everything from pregnancy through preschool.
As a professional nanny for more than 15 years and now as a mother herself, Michelle LaRowe has seen it all. She was even recognized as “Nanny of the Year” by the International Nanny Association in 2004, and the following year, President George W. Bush praised her for her dedication to in-home child care.
Now she shares her vast knowledge and expertise with moms everywhere, in her new book A Mom’s Ultimate Book of Lists, in which she provides the most sought-after and up-to-date information for parenting children from birth to age 5 in one easy-to-navigate resource. Also included is a special section dedicated to pregnancy.
In compiling this collection of 112 of the most practical lists for moms to live by, LaRowe ruthlessly sorted through the most reliable sources and tried-and-true recommendations for raising healthy and happy children.
Organized in an easy-to-find format, her book offers mothers the chance to find all the answers to their most pressing parenting questions in one resource. No more having to wade through outdated books, make sense of conflicting expert opinions or search for reliable information online: LaRowe has done all the meticulous research, combined with her professional know-how and experience, so that mothers can spend their time doing what they love best: Being a mom.
I found this book to be excellent, especially for new parents, but all parents can learn something from this book. You can see why Michelle was nanny of the year! This book covers everything from preparing for baby to saving money. A must have in any expecting parents or parents home library.
Michelle LaRowe is a national speaker, parenting consultant, and author of the Nanny to the Rescue! series and Working Mom’s 411. The 2004 International Nanny Association “Nanny of the Year” and a credentialed career nanny who has specialized in working with multiples for more than fifteen years, Michelle has also been lauded for her dedication to improving the quality of in-home child care. www.michellelarowe.com

THE BEST THINGS YOU CAN DO TO BETTER YOUR MOOD:
From taking a nap to decorating your home,
authors share scientifically-sound secrets of what will make you feel great.
What does it take to be in a good mood—no matter what the weather’s like, how much cash you have in your wallet, or what
side of the bed you woke up on? As authors David B. Biebel, DMin; James E. Dill, MD; and Bobbie Dill, RN, have discovered: Happiness actually is pretty simple.
“We can have a much greater effect on our moods than many of us realize,” the authors say. “Just by doing one or two simple things each day, we can feel better and be less stressed.”
In their new book, 50 Ways to Feel Great Today, the credentialed authors offer sound medical and spiritual advice regarding 50 easy and practical things anyone can do to brighten their mood. Including scientific research, scriptural references and real-life anecdotes, they approach mental health and well-being from both a physical as well as an emotional perspective.
Some of the activities in the book include:
•Do something creative. It will stimulate your brain and increase memory function.
•Take a nap. A 20- to 30-minute break to snooze has been shown to increase work performance and alertness, relieve work-related stress and lower the risk of death from heart disease.
•Listen to music. Music can offer healing by helping us identify with our emotions. An upbeat rhythm has been proven to reduce stress hormones by as much as 41 percent.
•Decorate something. Our moods can be influenced by our immediate surroundings, so try bringing vibrant colors or meaningful objects into the rooms of your house.
•Offer a helping hand. Giving increases the release of endorphins (which causes a natural emotional “high”) and impacts the way you feel about yourself and the world around you. Studies have also found that volunteering can have a great impact on your health and longevity, even a 44% reduction in early death.
•Start lifting weights. Not only does it help you physically, but getting in shape also improves your sense of body image. In one study, lifting weights helped relieve chronic depression.
•Go fishing. It offers a chance to spend time outdoors, experience some adventure, or encourage quiet time and reflection.
•Remember the good times. Take 20 minutes to walk down memory lane, and your overall mood can be improved, one study recently shows. Consider journaling, scrapbooking or getting together with old friends.
•Have a sense of humor. Laughing has been shown to increase pain tolerance, reduce stress, increase your immunity, and burn calories.
•Make a nutritious meal. Healthy ingredients can boost your immune system, calm jangled nerves or even lessen aches, not to mention engage some creativity when trying out new recipes.
Although some of these activities seem like “no brainers” so to speak, they are common every day things that we over look each day. I think this book is like one of the treasured cookbooks that you can pull off the shelf and find a recipe for a great dish without running to the grocery store. Great ideas that anyone can use every day to make your life better and keep you smiling.

Mackenzie Allen Philips’ youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack’s world forever. In a world where religion seems to grow increasingly irrelevant “The Shack” wrestles with the timeless question, “Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?” The answers Mack gets will astound you and perhaps transform you as much as it did him. You’ll want everyone you know to read this book!
This book is AWESOME! I don’t think that I have ever read a book that felt more like a movie than a book. I was sucked into the shack with Mack and felt his pain and heartbreak as he was guided on a spiritual journey to forgiveness. I could not put this book down! It is an emotional roller coaster that ends with a peace that passes understanding and an undeniable closeness to Papa!

At a time when many are looking for raw, authentic lives of faith, author C. Craig Burns offers an autobiographical journey through his diagnosis of an incurable cancer and into the world of ultra marathons. Experience real life situations in vibrant detail as you run, walk, climb, and run some more along with Craig through the mountains of Virginia and West Virginia. An official finisher in five ultra marathons in 2007, plus the Boston Marathon, Craig continued his training and competing albeit as a self-confessed back-of-the-packer while in the midst of overcoming Lymphoma. The trail of Constant Forward Motion winds through every aspect of the authors life. The people, events, and experiences are all actual and authentic. The story includes doctor reports, prognoses and steps of faith following news such as, You either have cancer or HIV, and is filled with often humorous observations. There really isn’t anybody who wouldn’t be encouraged by reading this book.
I started reading Constant Forward Motion not knowing anything about marathons or any kind of running competition, and finished feeling like I had actually participated in one! Craig describes each one of his accomplishments in a way that makes you feel like you are running right beside him in each one. His faith in God is proven through each race, which I must confess that I would not have the strength to complete! Always pushing forward and pressing in, Craig is not only an inspiration to cancer survivors but to anyone who who sees his determination to cross the finish line!

Merry Christmas from Me to You
“Her name is Shon,
She’s due any day.
She works at McDonald’s
For minimum pay.
She has other children-
One, two, and three.
She’s tired, she’s broke,
She has not time that’s free.
Her kids won’t have Christmas
There’s no money to spare,
She’s too proud to ask
With no family to care.
She’s struggled to learn
How to clean and to cook.
She raised her siblings,
And did what it took
To finish her schooling,
Get her GED,
It’s been a hard life;
She’s barely twenty!
So, I’m caught in a dilemma,
You are my friend.
It’s Christmas, I’m shopping,
With little to spend.
We’ve had a great year,
Good times – you and me,
And there’s much for us both
Under our tree.
I can’t spend the money
To buy you more stuff,
When Shon and her kids
Have it so tough.
I bought you this candle,
And gave her the rest.
I fretted and stewed,
But thought is was best
To do it this way.
I know you won’t mind
Because you are loving,
and thoughtful and kind!
Please light this candle
Each day as you pray,
And think of this girl
Who’s not far away.
She needs more than money.
She needs someone to care,
To know that she matters,
Tough life is unfair.
So I’ve given her you,
Through your gift from me.
And all through this year,
‘Neath her Christmas tree,
She’ll know with her heart
That someone is there,
Holding her up
In spirit-filled prayer.
Merry Christmas, my friend,
I hope this will do
Thanks from Shon and her kids.
Love from me – just for you!”

This is an awesome book by my favorite pastor, Ric Lewellen. It is one of those books that you can read over and over and get more out of it each time. Backed by scripture it gives you an idea of how BIG our God is. Pastor Ric shows how the Spirit of God is with us always and gives some great examples of how God works by using Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Gave me plenty to think about. Pastor Ric gives women a little more insite about how it all went down in the Garden of Eden which I think a lot of people have the wrong idea about. Great book and an easy read.

Wow, it seems like forever since I have posted anything. It is the busiest time of year for orders. I have been covered up! I am getting caught up now but too busy to do much of anything but make products.
My lotions and body butters are being test marketed in Minnesota in a national Pharmacy. I can’t specify on the name at this time but I need everyone to keep me in prayer. My little business is ever growing and I hope to continue to give God the glory for success that I have. Without my Lord I would not be where I am today.
Keep those who continue to turn their backs on God just to be politically correct in prayer. I have had experience with this in one store that I have my products in and I must remember to pray for these people for they know not what they do. Only God can touch their hearts and make them see what they are doing. I just hope that they realize how impactful the decision will be on their lives. If we deny him then he will deny us.
Huge snow storm started yesterday and we have 20″ if not more! It isn’t supposed to stop until tomorrow morning. We have shoveled all morning and I am exhausted! It’s still coming down!
Well that’s all for now but hopefully I can keep up a little better now that my orders are pretty much caught up.

In Fit for My King, the bestselling author of His Princess shows women how to turn their weight loss goals over to God. Sheri Rose Shepherd’s Princess books speak to a need women have to be loved, especially by their Creator. Now Sheri offers specific help to women so they can take care of the body God gave them, while drawing closer to Him. Sheri begins with her inspirational story about her struggles to treat her body well by eating real food, exercising and praying. As readers begin their own diets, they’re supported with 30 days of encouraging devotions, stories, exercise suggestions and Scripture. Many of Sheri’s tasty recipes are also included. Fit for My King is a book women will use for themselves and share with others.
I found this book to be inspirational and very comforting. It helps you believe in a loving, kind father in heaven. I especially love the “His Princess Love Letters” Sheri Rose Shepherd you touched my heart with the way you wrote this book. You will be helping lots of people with self esteem issues and confidence issues. You can actually feel the love of the Lord when you read the pages. Great Job.

International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church 2009
Can you devote some special time in prayer for persecuted Christians this November?
Christians around the world face abandonment for their faith in Jesus. Some are expelled from their homes. Others are rejected by family and friends. Converts are sometimes even viewed with suspicion and fear by fellow Christians.
Every November, Christians around the world join together in prayer to remember our Christian brothers and sisters suffering persecution simply because they confess Jesus Christ as Lord.
There are many countries around the world where Christians are martyred for their faith. Last August, the world watched in horror the unbridled violence unleashed upon Christians in Orissa state, India. In countries like North Korea, acts of persecution take place daily, but we often don’t see or hear of it. Brother Andrew of Open Doors once said, “Our heroes are not with us simply because they are in prison.”
Stand with your brothers and sisters. Show them they are not alone by praying for your persecuted Christian family on November 8 — the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (IDOP). Whether you take part as a church, a group or simply spend time in personal prayer for the persecuted, your prayers will be a powerful way to remember those suffering for their Christian witness.
This November, join with thousands of Christians worldwide in prayer for the Persecuted Church. Mark your calendars, inform your churches, and tell your friends about this unique opportunity to pray for your persecuted Christian family and remind suffering believers that they are neither forgotten nor abandoned.
To find out more about IDOP 2009 and special resources designed to help you get involved, please visit the IDOP-international website at www.idop.org. In Canada, go to www.idop.ca.

Capture the Simple Peace of the Amish in Your Own Life
You don’t have to become Amish to make personal peace a reality. Organized around five central themes in Amish life, Amish Peace shows you how you can cultivate a simple life of love, gratitude, and faith in the midst of a very complicated world. It includes real-life stories and examples of Plain People, Amish proverbs, and fascinating facts about Amish communities. Each section also contains questions for reflection and action, outlining things you can do in your own life that “make for peace.”
While reading this book I was surprised at how much the Amish and my family have in common. I’m not talking about the clothes or the horse and buggy transportation. I am talking of the love of God that bubbles out of each one of these people. I see the calm and peace in our lives and I have never been more proud to be a Christian than now. My family is comforted each day knowing that we have been saved by the grace of God. I loved this book and my hope is that more people can find this kind of peace because it is what your soul craves.
